Thomas Wylde Henna Nailhead Stud Bag

November 28, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: bRs

Thomas Wylde Henna Nailhead Stud Bag
Paula Thomas is at it again! This time around, however, her would be hit just might be a total miss. Introducing the Thomas Wylde Henna Nailhead Stud Bag. No skulls, no spiders, no spikes… heck, it’s not even black. This bag does have studs though! But the studs were used to create a dainty floral design. Hmm… this doesn’t really look like a Thomas Wylde handbag, does it? Personally, I’m having a hard time taking this all in. If I wanted to buy a Thomas Wylde bag, I would at the very least expect it to have skulls. I mean, isn’t that what Thomas Wylde is all about? I suppose this bag isn’t terrible, but it just isn’t what I would have expected from this designer. Plus the shape sort of reminds me of a hot dog in a sling. Sorry Paula, but flowers just aren’t your thing. How does everyone else feel?

The Thomas Wylde Henna Nailhead Stud Bag is available in Pumice. It measures 20″ x 12″ x 7″ and it retails for $3,900 (EEK! Now that IS scary!). It comes complete with a tassel zipper pull and Swarovski crystal accents.

Find it at eLUXURY.

end note: HauteLook is featuring a Thomas Wylde handbag and clothing sale today!!!

Kooba Natasha Soft Shopper Bag

Kooba Natasha Soft Shopper Bag
When it comes to handbags in my own collection, I seem to prefer smaller ones. Reading my blog posts, however, most people probably wouldn’t gather that. But just because I like bags that are of a “manageable” size for me, it doesn’t mean I can’t admire great-looking bags of all shapes and sizes. What caught my eye with this Kooba Natasha Soft Shopper was its two-in-one styling. This bag can be worn as a slim shopper or, by unbuckling the side straps, as a bucket tote. I also love Kooba designs for their soft leathers and pretty pleating details. They have some of the most beautiful designs and sometimes I don’t feel like they are given enough credit by the handbag world. Now would I personally wear this handbag? Only if I was going to be stuffing school books inside it! But I understand that there are people out there that like large bags for everyday. So if you love big bags, then the Kooba Natasha Soft Shopper might be of interest to you.
The Kooba Soft Shopper measures 20.5″ x 12.5″ x 5.5″ when cinched up and 17.5″ x 10″ x 7″ when uncinched. It retails for $645 and is available in Purple, Brown, or Black. Check it out at Nordstrom

Introducing the Coach Resort 2009 Handbag Collection

November 25, 2008

Introducing the Coach Resort 2009 Handbag Collection
Way back when my love for handbags was in its infancy, I absolutely adored Coach Bags. But as time passed, their novelty began to wear off. I mean, what fun was there in owning a Coach bag if everyone and their sister had one as well? Plus my tastes had begun to grow more and more extravagant. They had simply lost their appeal. But lately, I have found myself taking a second look at Coach. And for good reason! Not only are their new styles fresh and exciting, they are absolutely gorgeous as well. These bags are probably some of the most beautiful bags I have seen from Coach in a very long time. If you don’t believe me, then head on over to Coach’s official website and check them out for yourself. I guarantee that you will be pleasantly surprised.

But with so many great new bags from Coach to choose from, you are probably wondering if they could ever possibly top themselves. Well, guess what! I think they just may have! Introducing the new Coach Resort 2009 Collection, which is due out next month. Soft leathers, pretty shades of pink, and illuminating metallics, this collection has it all. Beware of sensory overload, these bags will definitely delight and dazzle. But what I find most appealing about the collection is all the new shapes that is has introduced. Their silhouettes are so simple, rounded, and unstructured. They just look so soft. Suppressing the urge to squeeze them may prove difficult. These are definitely not your typical Coach bags. Here’s a sneak peak of what’s to come:

Resort Leather Shoulder Tote in punch (left) - $598
Resort Shoulder Bag in blush (middle) - $448
Graphic Op Art Shoulder Tote in multi (right) - $798

Resort Python Shoulder Tote in silver - $2200

Parker Karung Shoulder Flap (left) - Available in March
Resort Python Clutch in silver (right) - $1100

Also check out Coach’s new online charity called Coach Cares!

A group of ten celebrities (including Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Ryan Reynolds, Mandy Moore, and Eva Longoria) have chosen their favorite Coach styles. During this coming holiday season, the proceeds from of each of these bags sold online will be donated to the celebrity’s charity of choice. What a fun way to brighten up the holidays! Marc Jacobs Satin Rad Bag

November 25, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: bRs

Marc Jacobs Satin Rad Bag
Those dark purple hues are still hitting the display shelves, even though we are well into the Fall 08 season. Introducing the Marc Jacobs Satin Rad Bag. It’s sleek, small, versatile, and… you guessed it, purple! This lovely satin bag looks like it would be great for an evening out. I just love the long, detachable shoulder strap. It allows this bag to be worn two different ways — as a large clutch or as a small shoulder bag. Plus the satin gives this bag a really elegant feeling. The leather trim also gives the bag a nice tone-on-tone effect, which I really love. Personally, I don’t see anything I don’t like about this bag. However, I would probably prefer to use it without its strap most of the time. But I think it’s nice to have the option there if my hands were in sudden need of being freed up. To me, it just looks so much nicer as a clutch. What does everyone else think?
The Marc Jacobs Satin Rad Bag measures 9″ x 6″ x 2″ and it retails for $595. Find it at NET-A-PORTER, where the dress (also by Marc Jacobs) and shoes (Brian Atwood) are also available.

Rebecca Minkoff Jamie Wallet

November 24, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: bRs

Rebecca Minkoff Jamie Wallet
Rebecca Minkoff is not a designer that is well known for her wallets. Over at TBF, when someone is referring to a Rebecca Minkoff design, it is typically the famous Morning After Bag. Sure, the Morning After Bag is wonderful. But I do, occasionally, like to acknowledge the existence of other Rebecca Minkoff styles. Everything from the Rendezvous Clutch to the Beau Tote, Rebecca Minkoff has a little something for everyone. But what you may not know is that Rebecca Minkoff makes small accessories as well. They are not currently being offered on the official website. However, there are several styles of wallets and coin purses available. Take, for example, this wallet I have here. It’s called the Jamie Wallet. Personally, I think it looks more like a small clutch than a wallet. But, hey, maybe it could double as one! I love the black and white combo as well. It really gives it an art deco feeling. Plus I love all the credit card slots and pockets inside. Nothing is more annoying than a wallet with too few spaces to keep things.

The Rebecca Minkoff Jamie Wallet measures 7.5″ x 3.5″ x 1″. It retails for the not-so-bad price of $235.

Check it out at RevolveClothing

Dooney & Bourke Shiny Leather Hayden Clutch

November 21, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: bRs

Dooney & Bourke Shiny Leather Hayden Clutch
No offense to Dooney & Bourke, but their designs have been so far off the handbag radar lately that they might as well not even exist. Why? Well, quite frankly, they are just plain ugly. Plus they are way too kiddie looking for the hardcore bagista. I understand that the company wanted to explore other markets, but why not make some normal looking bags that adults can appreciate? So when the original Hayden bag was first introduced, everyone at TBF was surprised by how non-Dooney like it was. Of course it wasn’t a show stopper by any means, but it was way better than the bag Emma Roberts designed! And now it looks like our friend Hayden Panettiere has gotten her creative juices flowing again. Meet the Shiny Leather Hayden Clutch. It’s not too bad looking, in my opinion, for a Dooney bag. But I can’t picture myself actually buying it. I like the shape and the contrasting trim. But what it up with the lion head? Apparently it is meant to represent Hayden’s astrological sign (Leo) and it’s 24kt gold-plated too boot! Personally, I would prefer the clutch without such an embellishment.

The Shiny Leather Hayden Clutch is available in Royal Blue, Red, Fuchsia, Purple, Ivory, and Black. It retails for $295. Find it at Dooney.com. You can also find Dooney & Bourke at Macy’s

Rebecca Minkoff Croc Morning After Mini Bag

November 20, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: bRs

Rebecca Minkoff Croc Morning After Mini Bag
Over at TBF, Rebecca Minkoff bags have become a very common sight. And the most treasured of these bags is the one that started it all. Originally designed for Rebecca’s good friend Jenna Elfman, the Morning After Bag is very popular indeed. And the Morning After Mini? Just as popular as its big sister, if not more! Which means pictures of this new version of the Morning After Mini might be hitting our “Show Off Your Bags” section very shortly. Now what do I like about this new version? As obvious as this might be, I really do like the croc-embossed leather. I think the croc print makes this bag look even more sophisticated than it already is. It compliments the clean lines of this bag very nicely, making it a very work appropriate bag. My only regret is that, so far, it is only available in Brown. Personally, I think a pop of color would make this bag even more appealing. What does everyone else think?

The Rebecca Minkoff Croc Morning After Mini Bag measures 12.5″ x 8″ x 7″. It retails for $595.

Find it at ShopBop

The Feed Bag by Feed

November 20, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: bRs

The Feed Bag by Feed
With our environment in a state of crisis, more and more people have been jumping on the eco-friendly bandwagon. Being green and being fashionable are now one in the same for many people. Celebs everywhere have been photographed shopping at farmers’ markets carrying their reusable shopping totes. But don’t get me wrong, I think it is wonderful how everyone is becoming more aware of how humans have negatively impacted the Earth. My only hope is that the Going Green Trend will someday be more than just a trend, it will be a way of life.

So you like the idea of carrying around a tote bag that will help save the Earth. How about getting a tote bag that saves the Earth in more ways than one? Introducing the Feed Bag by Feed. When I first saw this tote, I only saw the word “Feed”. Wait… what kind of feed? Horse feed? But upon closer inspection, I realized that the bag actually said “Feed The Children Of The World”. Not only is this tote bag eco-friendly, it also helps feed the hungry by donating $20 from its sale to the U.N. World Food Program. According to the WFP website, “one in nearly seven people do not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life, making hunger and malnutrition the number one risk to health worldwide.” Although this isn’t the most attractive eco-friendly tote I have ever seen, I think its worthy cause more than makes up for it.

The Feed Bag by Feed retails for $59.95. Find it at Vivre
And for more information about the WFP, please visit their website: WFP

Burberry Ruched Ribbon Leather Hobo

November 18, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: bRs

Burberry Ruched Ribbon Leather Hobo
Burberry’s Resort 2009 Collection is here! Hot off the presses, these new styles are unlike the typical Burberry styles that we have come to know and love (or not love!). Take this bag I have pictured above. It is called the Burberry Ruched Ribbon Leather Hobo. The ruched ribbons of leather give this bag a very feminine feel. It’s like having a lace bag without the lace. Personally, I’m not really sure what to think of this bag. I certainly like the idea of using texture to add interest to a bag. But when I look at this bag, I have visions of those ruffled blouses that where “in” a few years ago. Does anyone remember those? They went from HOT to NOT in what seemed like a millisecond. The color, however, might have something to do with it. I think this bag would look a hundred times better if it was in Black. The Dark Taupe Pink just doesn’t do it for me. Plus the price tag on this baby is scary. Perhaps this one needs to hit the sale section first!

The Burberry Ruched Ribbon Leather Hobo in the Dark Taupe Pink is available for Pre-Order. This lambskin leather bag retails for $2,195.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Scuba MM Bag

November 18, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: bRs

Louis Vuitton Monogram Scuba MM
A little late for Halloween! Believe it or not, this handbag is brand new for the Cruise 2009 Collection. Introducing the Louis Vuitton Monogram Scuba MM. With it’s monogram-embossed neoprene and contrasting leather trim, this bag is unlike anything I have seen from Louis Vuitton. Unfamiliar with neoprene? It is actually a synthetic rubber that is most commonly used to produce weather-resistant products, adhesives, shoe soles, and paints. Wow! Can anyone say RAINCOAT? (Sorry, it’s a bad TBF joke) Seriously though, if I were to pick out a brand new Louis Vuitton handbag for myself, this would not be what I would choose. I like bright colors for spring, but orange and black are just way too Halloween-ish. But looking at the bright side, at least you wouldn’t have to worry about getting this bag wet during one of those sudden Spring downpours. Perhaps Louis Vuitton will come out with some rain boots to match! That would be hilarious! What does everyone else think?

The Louis Vuitton Monogram Scuba MM is available in Orange (shown) or Fuchsia. It measures 20″ x 13″ x 8″. It retails for $1,940. This bag is also available in the GM size.

Kooba Riley Bag

Kooba Riley Bag
Origami frogs! Does anyone remember how to make one of those? When I was in grade school, we had a thing called the Frog Olympics. Students would make origami frogs to compete in a variety of contests. There was the Best Dressed Frog, the Largest Frog, and the Smallest Frog Competitions. There were also “Track and Field” events like the Long Jump and the High Jump. I don’t think I ever won any awards, but I do remember how fun it was to fold origami frogs. It is something that has stuck with me well into my adult life. So don’t be surprised if I’m making one while I’m bored at work or in class! The reason I bring all of this up is because of what I see when I look at the Kooba Riley Bag. In case you haven’t already figured it out, it’s origami! Think about it. The clean lines. The precise folds. How could you not be reminded? As far as whether or not I like this bag from a handbag perspective, I really can’t say for sure. I have always liked Kooba handbags, but this one seems so stiff-looking. Nothing like the typical squishy Kooba styles that I have come to know and love. I do like the pretty blue color though!
The Kooba Riley Bag is available in Teal or Luggage (Tan). It retails for $595.

Find it at shopbop.com!

Want les Essentiels de la Vie: The Malpensa 24 HR Travel Bag

Want Malpensa 24 HR Travel Bag
Do you want a nice travel bag? Say for quick, overnight trips? I came across this Malpensa 24HR Travel Bag by Want and all I can say is “wow”. So who is Want? The company’s full name is Want les Essentiels de la Vie. They are all about timeless, classic, and 100% functional designs. Their specialty? Luggage. However, they also make briefcases and a variety of small accessories. Personally, I think this bag is absolutely lovely. And you know what? You wouldn’t necessarily have to use it as a travel bag. It could easily double as an awesome work bag. Just think of all the stuff you could fit in there - folders, binders, laptop, you name it. As for the color, I actually love the green a lot. The color is refreshing and unexpected, especially in the workplace. However, I think this bag would be even more stunning in black. After all, black is always right when it comes to work. How does everyone else feel?
The Want Malpensa 24HR Travel Bag is available in Dark Green. It measures 14″ x 11″ x 5.5″ and has a 9″ handle drop. Also keep your items secure with its adorable little zipper lock. Unfortunately, this bag retails for $1,395.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Cats and Dogs Handbag

Marc by Marc Jacobs Cats and Dogs Handbag
Marc Jacobs has designed some of the most beautiful handbags I have ever seen. Timeless, classic, elegant, and functional. For many people, he is a creative genius. But he is a creative genius that also has a huge sense of humor, especially when it comes to handbags. Meet the Marc by Marc Jacobs Cats and Dogs Handbag. This little bag is covered in cute doodles of cats and dogs. And this isn’t the first time Marc has taken a virtual marker to a handbag. Doodle-inspired designs have been featured in almost every season, including the very famous Miss Marc handbags. So how does everyone feel about this handbag? Are the cats and dogs cute? Personally, I think they are cute. I love the silver metallic images against the bright orange background. But this bag would be extremely hard for someone to wear. It would definitely be appealing, however, to the younger generation. And since it is from a few seasons ago, the price is actually affordable for the more youthful customer. What a fun little bag to brighten up an outfit.. if you’re 12.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Cats and Dogs handbag is available in Poppy (shown) or White. It measures 9″ x 6.5″ x 0.75″. Originally retailing for $148, it is now available at Bluefly for only $103.

Miss Sixty Whitney Bag

November 12, 2008
post written by Bag Bliss blogger: bRs

Miss Sixty Whitney Bag
When I first laid eyes on the Miss Sixty Whitney Bag, I felt somewhat nauseous. From a distance, it appears as though the bag is perforated. But upon closer inspection, I realized that this bag was actually made of faux ostrich. And when I saw this picture on Revolve Clothing’s website, I was impressed by how well the photographer made this bag look. Is it the lighting? I’m not really sure. To tell you the truth, the bag actually looks pretty good in the picture. But in real life, I’m not too impressed. For starters, this bag is made of polyurethane, not leather. I want to say that this bag is comparable to something from Nine West or Guess. So when I saw the price tag, I was floored. This bag retails for $228. That is a lot considering it is made of plastic. Therefore, I really can’t picture myself buying this bag (sorry, I just can’t help but love my leather handbags). However, it might be nice option for a vegan handbag lover. For you guys, the polyurethane might make an excellent selling point.
The Miss Sixty Whitney Bag is available in Navy. It measures 20″ x 14″ x 6.5″ and has a 7″ strap drop.

Find it at Revolve Clothing.
